Infinity Flow has successfully completed, tested, and validated its latest AI-based control algorithm for Grid-Tied Solid-State Transformer (SST) technology—an achievement that underscores our commitment to advancing intelligent power conversion and accelerating grid modernization.

Why Does AI Control Mean?

AI in the form of Reinforcement Learning (RL) has emerged as a powerful framework for the control of complex and partially unknown systems, where traditional model-based approaches often fall short. Unlike classical control methods that rely on precise mathematical models, RL enables controllers to learn optimal strategies directly from system interactions by balancing exploration and exploitation. Through iterative trial-and-error, RL agents can adapt to dynamic environments, accommodate uncertainties, and continuously improve performance without requiring an exact system model. This makes reinforcement learning particularly attractive for applications in power electronics, robotics, and autonomous systems, where nonlinearities, disturbances, and incomplete knowledge pose significant challenges to conventional control design. By using reinforcement learning, grid-tied SSTs can intelligently adjust their virtual inertia and voltage, helping stabilize the grid and respond more effectively to fluctuations in demand and generation.

Why Does This Matter?

In high-power systems, advanced control of grid-tied inverters plays a vital role in stabilizing local grid fluctuations and avoiding destabilizing effects like negative impedance. Techniques such as virtual inertia enable these inverters to act more like traditional rotating machines, strengthening grid stability and reliability.

With the integration of our AI-based control algorithm, Infinity Flow’s SST can now:

  • Adapt in real time to changing grid impedances and dynamics
  • Maximize local grid phase and voltage stability
  • Offer synchronous response reserve ancillary services when used with local stationary BESS.

Applications of SSTs Across Industries

This milestone brings us closer to scaling SST technology for multiple high-impact markets:

  • Data Centers – Improving energy efficiency and resilience

  • 🚗 Transportation Electrification – Powering the next generation of EV charging infrastructure

  • 🌍 Renewable Energy – Enabling smarter solar and wind integration

  • 🔌 Smart-Grid Modernization – Supporting flexible, digital, and future-ready power systems

A Step Toward the Future

By validating the AI-driven control of our SST, Infinity Flow has taken a key step toward commercial deployment. This milestone reinforces our mission: to build the foundation of tomorrow’s electrified world through smarter, lighter, and more efficient power technologies.

We are grateful to our team, and advisors for their support in reaching this achievement, and we look forward to sharing more updates as we move toward large-scale implementation.
